Fintech Platform Palette Redesign

A Hong Kong-based fintech startup needed a colour system that felt trustworthy to local users whilst meeting strict WCAG AA standards. We built a triadic palette using red, blue, and gold—colours with deep cultural significance in Chinese tradition. The result? A 34% improvement in user trust metrics and perfect accessibility compliance across their mobile app and web platform.

E-commerce Accessibility Audit & Remediation

An established Hong Kong e-commerce platform had serious accessibility issues—many colour combinations fell short of WCAG standards. We audited 47 distinct colour applications across their site, identified 23 contrast failures, and provided a complete remediation roadmap. Within 6 weeks, they achieved WCAG AAA compliance whilst maintaining their brand identity and cultural colour preferences.

Design Team Workshop: Palette Generation Mastery

We delivered a half-day workshop to 12 designers at a major Hong Kong creative agency, teaching them to use Adobe Color and Coolors for rapid palette generation whilst respecting cultural colour associations. They learned how to balance complementary schemes with East Asian symbolism, check accessibility on-the-fly, and export palettes for production. Team feedback: 9.2/10 satisfaction, with designers now confidently creating culturally-informed, accessible palettes independently.

East Asian Colour Symbolism Guide

We created a comprehensive reference guide for an international design network with 150+ members across Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. The guide maps colour psychology differences between Western and East Asian contexts—for example, white’s association with mourning in Chinese tradition versus purity in Western design. It includes 8 primary colours with detailed cultural associations, psychological impacts, and WCAG-compliant palette examples for each.
